Modes

Airpay supports a few different modes to better tailor the app to your business. They are a great way to focus on the features you actually use, so you can quickly do what you need.

You can change modes by navigating to Manage > Settings > Mode, choosing your preferred mode and then tapping Select This Mode.

The available modes are described below.

Retail Mode

Retail mode

Retail mode offers a register based point of sale. It is best for businesses that make sales on the spot such as retailers.

Great for shops and market stalls

  • Register based Point of Sale
  • Sell and manage the items you sell
  • Custom amounts for ad-hoc sales
  • Create and manage your customer’s details ü Accept all contactless card payments
  • Sync your sales to Xero

If you only want to use Airpay to take payments and don't want to list any products you can turn on Simple Mode which will disable any product management features.

Simple mode

Coming from Pocket Pay?

Simple mode is a great choice for customers coming from the Pocket Pay app.

Invoicing Mode

Invoicing mode

Invoicing mode offers the ability to create and share quotes and invoices with your customers. It is best for businesses that operate by raising quotes and invoices before taking payments against them either in person or via bank transfer.

  • Raising and sending invoices to your customers
  • Sell and manage the items you sell
  • Custom amounts for ad-hoc sales
  • Manage your customer’s details

Hospitality mode is designed for restaurants and cafés. It provides slightly different behavior to the other modes by offering orders and tables.

Great for cafés or restaurants

  • Register based Point of Sale
  • Sell and manage the items you sell on your menu ü Custom amounts for ad-hoc sales

Hospitality mode operates very similarly to Invoicing mode but with different terminology. In the documentation below we refer to the invoicing terminology. See the comparison below:

  • Tables → Customers
  • Orders → Invoices
  • Receipts → Paid

Note

Hospitality mode is currently in beta so some features may not work quite as expected. Use the feedback card in the app to provide us with feedback!
